The role of a Product Development Chef involves developing and producing concepts and recipes for new products, product enhancement, cost reduction and product improvement projects to meet Business strategies.
Product Development Chef Duties
- Development kitchen based role working from project briefs and generation of own concepts.
- Managing projects in the development of new products, product improvements and cost reduction.
- Work with the team to ensure the delivery and successful start-ups of new products, product improvement, cost reduction, ingredient, formula, specification, or process changes.
- Providing and ensure accurate collation of information towards ingredient, recipe and finished product costings
- Liaising with retail customers in the creation of new products and continuous improvement of existing sku’s.
- Sourcing, testing and specifying the use of, new ingredients, industrial natural flavourings, additives and processing aids to deliver new recipes.
- Document all work according to established procedures and guidelines and prepare or assist in preparing various project reports to project personnel and other parties to ensure complete communication of project status, progress, issues, solutions, timeline, and accountability.
- Attending both internal customer product sampling panels as part of development cycle, evaluating results and achieving target product profile to achieve a successful launch.
- Maintaining awareness of industry trends, consumer requirements and the availability of novel ingredients and processing aids.
